Situation

This elegant and historically important house is located in a rural position yet within easy access to both the north and south Cornwall coasts. The popular town of Falmouth is about 5 miles away. The city of Truro is about 6 miles away. From the east there are excellent road networks, the A30 takes you down into Cornwall and is only about 4 miles from the house. From the house the whole of Cornwall is within an easy driving distance which makes the coach house a popular choice for holiday makers.

Historic note

The surrounding villages owe their history to Cornwall's important and prosperous mining heritage and as such there are a number of large houses built in the Georgian period for the engineers and industrialists who pioneered the mining of copper and other valuable commodities of the time. The Copperhouse was constructed around 1780 as an administration building for the Gwennap Copper Mines. In fact The Copperhouse features a large iron clad Strongroom and it is said that the World Copper Price was set from the house each morning. The parish of Gwennap was said to be 'the richest couple of miles in the world.' With the decline of mining The Copperhouse was reverted to a country house and originally part of the Burncoose Landed Estate.

Description

As mentioned above the house was constructed around 1780 and is a Grade II Listed building. Built in stone with beautiful Georgian sash windows under a slate roof which has recently undergone a significant amount of work. The house gives a feeling of solidarity and grandeur with high ceilings, symmetrical exterior looks, large reception rooms and a wide staircase with half level landing.

Downstairs there is an enormous drawing room with an ornate fireplace and surround, oak panelling and a triple aspect. The music room which is off the drawing room has a dual aspect with large sash windows, shutters and marble fireplace. The kitchen incorporates original tiled floors, marble work surfaces, a Belling Country Range with 8 ring gas hob and electric oven plus a separate electric oven. The windows over look the rear courtyard. There is ample  reception space.

Upstairs there are 5 double bedrooms (3 ensuite), the bathrooms have been recently refurbished to a high standard.

The detached Coach House to the rear of the main house was also built in the Georgian era and has been totally refurbished over the past 3 years to provide 5* rated holiday accommodation. As arranged the coach house currently sleeps up to 10 people. The main reception room has a full height vaulted ceiling and is plenty large enough for both sitting and dining areas. There are features such as wireless light switches so there are no unattractive wires running across the stone walls. The Kitchen/breakfast room is again clean and fresh having been replaced recently with light coloured tiled floors and built in appliances. In total the coach house provides 4 bedrooms/4 bathrooms which has been popular with holiday makers.
