Described by Herbert Ypma as one of the world famous "Hip Hotels", The Penzance Arts Club is up for grabs. Originally built in 1780 as the town’s Portuguese Embassy, the Georgian Grade 11 listed building enjoys stunning views over the harbour and Mounts Bay.

The seven-bedroom boutique hotel boasts a different kind of ambience, - bohemian and raffish, attracting people from all over the world who enjoy the artistic activities that the club organises. It is busy all year hosting functions and celebrities. The Arts Club has a thriving membership and enjoys reciprocal arrangements with the Groucho Club in London and others worldwide. Artists hold previews for new exhibitions and promote painting and craft holidays and there are other active groups such as a writers group and even a cricket club! The fortnightly "Café Frug" provides a lively theatre and music night. The lower ground floor restaurant is popular for first class local food and good wine, and opens onto gardens overlooking the bay and St Michaels Mount.
